Audit & Budget

The Audit and Budget Committee meets monthly to review the monthly bank statement and checks. They also review the monthly accounts payable/receivable journal with all bills for the period, and the payroll check register against all vouchers for all pay periods per month. The vouchers are examined to assure two officers sign each voucher, and to verify the mathematics on each voucher. All vouchers, bills, credit card statements, and receipts for charges paid by the local are assessed and initialed by at least two members.

Building Committee

Members of the Building Committee are charged with the duty to overseeing the maintenance and improvement of Local 6320's Office Building.

By-Laws Committee

The By-Laws Committee is responsible for researching and considering the legality, in accordance to the Local By-Laws and the CWA Constitution, of proposed changes to the by-laws. After the committee approves a proposed change, the change is read at the next General Membership Meeting and the change is advertised to the membership on bulletin boards or the US Mail. Following the advertisement or the reading of the change, it is brought forth and read at the next scheduled General Membership Meeting. A motion to adopt the by-law change would be entertained on the floor. After discussion on the change, a vote is taken to accept or reject the by-law. A majority vote is needed to pass a change in the by-laws.

Civil Rights and Equity Committee

The Civil Rights and Equity Committee reports on the ways and means to eliminate discrimination; sex, race, creed or color, or any other form of discrimination.

Communications Committee

The Communications Committee is responsible for creating the 20/20 Newspaper sent out to all members every month, and are responsible for this website. They collect photos and articles from the local that help educate members on current and upcoming events. The 20/20 Newspaper is also used to make personal announcements for our members such as retirement, the birth of a child, or passing of a loved one.

Community Services Committee

The Community Services Committee assist in developing all community services projects. Members of this committee set in motion the local's various charitable contributions to our local community. This includes the United Way, Greenwood Cemetery clean up, City Casa fundraisers, the Mary Ryder Home, and any other contribution possible.

Education Committee

The Education Committee assists in developing the local's educational program. This committee, in conjunction with the local's officers, is also responsible for effectively implementing the union's and local's educational programs.

Members of the Historical Committee work to research, catalogue, preserve and display items of historical interest concerning Local 6320 in it's fifty plus years of existence.

Legislative Committee

The Legislative Committee shall assist in developing and pursuing the program of the Union and the Local in the Legislative field. It shall be responsible for the Local's program to register each qualified voter.

Mobilization Committee

The Mobilization Committee assists in educating our members on issues, and achieving a high level of participation by our members in collective actions. These actions may include contract negotiations, contract enforcement, and resolution of matters in the work place, community, politics, or organizing.

Organizing Committee

Members of the Organizing Committee are charged with the duty of assisting the Local Officers and Stewards with organizing all potential members within the Local's jurisdiction. This Committee will also work to bring collective bargaining and social justice to the unorganized worker within our jurisdictional boundaries.

The Safety Committee is responsible for providing the Local membership with an avenue to report areas of concern involving safety.

Scholarship Committee

The Scholarship Committee is responsible for accepting and reviewing applications for the scholarship awards offered by Local 6320. The scholarship is named in honor of the late Ruth Smith, a long-time activist and union officer. Each year, Local 6320 offers two Ruth Smith College Scholarships: One for $1000, the other $500. Scholarship applications will be available in the 20/20 Newsletter.
